
During the last week of January, Company 12 kept busy during Winter Storm Fern, running numerous calls including several working fires. With PGFD career staff being held at Station 12 for extra hours, the station was staffed by a combination of volunteer and career personnel with 2 fire crews and 2 ambulance crews.
At 1510 hours on Monday January 26th, Engine 123, Truck 12, and Chief 12A were alerted to box 13-01 for the house on fire. First arriving companies reported smoke showing from the 1 story single family house on a basement. Engine 123 was fourth due but second-arriving engine and Truck 12 was the only truck company to arrive on scene due to poor road conditions and apparatus getting stuck in the snow. Engine 123 stretched a line to side alpha while Truck 12 conducted searches, threw ladders and completed overhaul. Chief 12A was the interior supervisor.
At 1655 hours on Tuesday January 27th, Engine 123 was alerted to respond as the third due engine to the 7200 block of Greenspring Ln in company 48s area for the house on fire. Communications received numerous calls resulting in the working fire dispatched being filled. This brought Truck 12 to the scene as the working fire truck. First arriving units found fire in the attic. Upon arrival, Engine 123 stretched a 200’ attack line while Truck 12 was assigned RIT. Chief 12A was the interior supervisor.
